Within the supply chain, managing over 250 factories and 400 warehouses, procuring billions of euros of goods and services, and delivering over 4.5 billion cases across more than 210,000 locations. Supply chain, including Unilever’s Procurement function, is vital to business fundamentals, with a focus on third-party manufacturing.
The end-to-end supply chain controls inventory, manages costs and assets, and underpins revenue through product availability.
Unilever leads in responsible sourcing (SUSO), with initiatives in GHG tracking, sustainable sourcing of commodities like palm, soy, cocoa, and dairy.
The company invests in software and technology services, including digital mapping and blockchain for sustainability tracing.
Customer Operations oversee global distribution, e-commerce, and logistics projects. The Commodity Risk Management team hedges EUR 5-7 billion annually.
The legal team supporting these operations is based in Singapore, London, Rotterdam, New York, Sao Paulo, Durban, and Barcelona. The role is based in Barcelona, reporting to the GC Home Care Products in Singapore, with a skip-line to the GC UBO in London and Singapore.
This position involves supervising internal and external legal support, managing complex and sensitive legal matters, and providing legal counsel aligned with business needs.
The role is suited for a mature candidate with demonstrated legal expertise, supervisory experience, and the ability to communicate risks succinctly.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing and supervising legal support for contracts and negotiations in areas like sustainable sourcing, funding, technology, and supply chain agreements.
2. Providing business-oriented legal advice, risk assessment, and guidance.
3. Leading collaboration with global legal teams and business partners.
4. Supporting claims, disputes, and litigation related to supply chain issues.
The candidate should possess:
* A law degree with current bar qualification and at least 12 years of legal advisory experience.
* A passion for ESG and sustainability issues.
* Strong drafting and advisory skills in English.
* Business acumen and experience with complex contracts, funding, and technology deals.
* Understanding or willingness to learn about GHG, NDPE, and sustainability programs.
* Excellent collaboration, communication, and cross-cultural skills.
* Flexibility to work across time zones, with some travel and flexible hours.
