The Role
* The Lead Compositor will lead a team of compositors, working closely with Visual Effects and CG Supervisors to composite elements that complete visual-effects shots.
Responsibilities
* Act as the key contact for production and supervisors, ensuring clear communication and addressing creative challenges, solutions, and schedule changes.
* Balance creative and technical aspects of each shot.
* Meet schedules and show deadlines.
* Collaborate with the Compositing and Visual Effects Supervisors to evaluate creative and technical approaches.
* Possess a strong understanding of color space principles.
* Provide briefs and direction to the team, ensuring proper execution of shots.
* Integrate 2D, 3D, and live-action elements to high-end visual effects standards.
* Manage team workload, time management, and feedback actions.
* Establish workflow templates and documentation for the team.
* Ensure tools are available and properly set up for the department.
* Attend dailies, present team work, and guide artists on presentation.
* Provide regular feedback and quality control for team artists.
* Train and mentor junior artists.
Skills
* Excellent knowledge of Nuke and production experience.
* Experience with large, distributed teams.
* Organizational and prioritization skills.
* Strong eye for detail, composition, color, and lighting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of color space principles.
* Ability to multitask with high attention to detail.
* Knowledge of the VFX pipeline.
* Comfort in fast-paced environments.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Skills
* Programming and coding experience.
* Knowledge of practical lighting for photography.
