Summary of Position
The Compliance Analyst (CA) will support the Risk and Compliance Officer and BMS Iberia Chief Operating Officer (COO) in maintaining the company Compliance programs, assisting in implementation of appropriate controls and mitigating overall Compliance risk for the organization.
They will assist the Risk & Compliance Officer with the implementation and monitoring of local organization-wide compliance programs that guide the development of appropriate policies and procedures for all business operations in alignment with the overall global organizational compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
* To assist the Risk & Compliance Officer in the understanding of the local regulatory environment. Identify all applicable regulations and monitor those procedures which are in place. Assist in the maintenance of any analysis of applicable laws and regulations including licensing requirements and permissible and prohibited activities.
* Undertake horizon scanning with regard to regulatory developments and inform on any new proposed regulation or legislation.
* Support the Risk & Compliance Officer to identify and assess the compliance risks applicable to the business.
* Assist the Risk & Compliance Officer to ensure that all employees understand all applicable Group Policies and that local operating procedures incorporate controls to ensure compliance with all other Group Policies.
* Assist the 1st line business with the implementation and maintenance of regional and local frameworks, policies and procedures which facilitate the management of compliance and financial crime risk in accordance with the requirement of Group policies, Board risk appetite and in response to both EU and local legal and regulatory requirement.
* Assist in the maintenance, oversight and training of the businesses Third Party Introducers.
* Assist in ad-hoc compliance related projects or tasks when requested.
* Undertake training on local regulatory requirements and Group policies including Financial Crime, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Sanctions, conflicts of interests.
* Assist the Risk & Compliance Officer with the preparation of regular compliance reports and metrics.
* Undertake the monitoring activities required in all compliance activities where controls are in place.
* Assist with preparation and field work required to support external & Line 3 audits
What we’re looking for – skills and capabilities
Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in law, accountancy, economics or administration
* Exposure to compliance-related activities with preferences in the financial or insurance sector (in-house or in consulting firms)
* Qualification in Compliance and Risk Management desirable
* Legal background an advantage.
* (re)insurance knowledge desirable
* Relevant understanding of local and regional regulation and legislation.
Personal Skills
* Forward thinker and planner; proactive and uses own initiative.
* Able to balance commercial and regulatory requirements.
* Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
* Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships within and across the Group.
* Fluent comprehension, verbal and written skills in English.
