Job Description
DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Medical Affairs Manager, Spain, located in Madrid, Spain or Amersfoort, Netherlands or Leonardo da Vincilaan, Belgium or Ringaskiddy, Ireland.
The Medical Affairs Manager, Spain plays a critical leadership role within Clinical Medical Affairs, serving as the scientific and clinical authority for DePuy Synthes products in the Spanish market. This role partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure the safe, compliant, and evidence‑based use of orthopedic solutions while strengthening relationships with healthcare professionals and advancing patient outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to shape local medical strategy, influence clinical education, and support innovation in a fast‑evolving orthopedic landscape.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and execute the local medical affairs strategy for DePuy Synthes orthopedic portfolios in Spain, aligned with regional and global objectives.
* Serve as the primary medical and scientific expert, providing clinical guidance and balanced scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
* Oversee medical education programs, including investigator‑initiated studies, clinical training, and congress activities, ensuring scientific integrity and compliance.
* Partner cross‑functionally with Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, and Quality teams to support product lifecycle activities and evidence generation.
* Review and approve medical content to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with clinical data and regulatory requirements.
* Support post‑market clinical surveillance activities and contribute to risk management and patient safety initiatives.
* Represent Medical Affairs on local governance committees and contribute to continuous improvement of medical processes and standards.
Qualifications
Education
* Required: Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent life sciences degree).
* Preferred: Postgraduate training or specialization in orthopedics, surgery, or clinical research.
Experience and Skills
Required:
* 6–8 years of progressive experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, or a related medical/scientific role within medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
* Demonstrated experience engaging with healthcare professionals and external experts in a compliant medical affairs setting.
* Strong understanding of clinical research, evidence generation, and post‑market clinical activities.
* Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and influence without direct authority.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex clinical data into clear insights.
Preferred:
* Prior experience in orthopedics or surgical medical devices.
* Experience supporting clinical studies or investigator‑initiated research.
* Familiarity with European and Spanish medical device regulations and compliance standards.
* Leadership experience mentoring junior medical or clinical staff.
Other
* Languages: Fluent Spanish and English (written and spoken).
* Travel: Up to 30% domestic and occasional international travel.
* Certifications: GCP certification preferred.
* Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required.

Anticipated Base Pay Range
€67,300.00 - €115,805.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
