The DataOps Team Lead at CloudPay leads and scales the company’s DataOps capability, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operation of data pipelines, platforms, and analytics services. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, platform operations, and analytics, enabling rapid, trustworthy data delivery across the business while maintaining strong governance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing DataOps team
- Set technical direction, priorities, and operating standards for DataOps
- Foster a culture of reliability, automation, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Support hiring, onboarding, and career development within the team
- Data Platform & Operations
- Own the operational health, performance, and availability of CloudPay’s data platforms
- Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management for data pipelines
- Ensure SLAs, SLOs, and data freshness commitments are met
- Drive automation to reduce manual intervention and operational risk
- Data Pipeline Reliability & Quality
- Implement robust CI/CD processes for data pipelines and analytics assets
- Establish data quality checks, validation frameworks, and anomaly detection
- Partner with Data Engineering to improve pipeline resilience, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Manage schema evolution, dependency tracking, and lineage visibility
- Governance, Security & Compliance
- Ensure strong data access controls, auditability, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR)
- Support payroll‑ and payment‑grade data accuracy and traceability
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams on policies and controls
- Promote best practices in data privacy, retention, and classification
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as a bridge between Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Operations
- Enable self‑service analytics while protecting platform stability
- Influence roadmap decisions with operational insights and metrics
- Communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Experience Needed
- Strong experience in DataOps, Data Engineering, or Platform Engineering
- Hands‑on knowledge of modern data stacks (e.g., cloud data warehouses, ETL/ELT tools, orchestration frameworks)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Preferred), Azure, or GCP
- Proficiency in MySQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred)
- Experience implementing CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, and automated testing for data systems
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and alerting tools
Leadership & Ways of Working
- Proven experience leading or mentoring technical teams
- Strong problem‑solving and operational mindset
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps‑oriented environments
- Comfortable owning incidents, post‑mortems, and continuous improvement actions
