About the role
This position provides legal advice to support the company's commercial success across all units, ensuring compliance with relevant laws. It involves negotiating contracts, advising on GDPR, and supporting legal processes. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance in Australia, the role primarily focuses on managing contractual negotiations with suppliers and large clients, including government entities.
This is a 12-month contract role to cover maternity leave.
Responsibilities
* Review and negotiate contracts for the Soprano Group in Europe and LATAM, including:
- Customer service agreements (Managed Service Telecom Providers and SaaS)
- Supplier agreements (carriers, aggregators, technology providers)
- NDAs, Data Processing Addendums, Data Transfer Agreements
- Consulting services agreements
* Draft and negotiate non-standard customer arrangements to minimize legal and commercial risks.
* Assist sales with legal and regulatory responses during RFTs and customer surveys.
* Provide proactive legal advice on issues like intellectual property, telecoms, and privacy law.
* Contribute to the development of new products and service terms.
* Manage litigation and advise on claims, including labor disputes.
* Improve legal processes, policies, and precedents.
* Manage outsourced legal services and external legal support.
* Oversee corporate management of legal entities and delegations of PoAs in assigned regions.
* Serve as the primary contact for international privacy matters, including GDPR compliance, with external DPO support.
* Advise on employment law, corporate, finance, and strategic initiatives as needed.
Soprano may assign additional duties as required.
Requirements
* At least 5+ years of post-qualified legal experience in a European jurisdiction, with top-tier law firm and relevant in-house experience.
* Sound judgment and excellent communication skills.
* Fluent in English and Spanish.
* Experience managing multiple demands, working under pressure, and strong negotiation skills.
* Creative problem solver who remains calm and prioritizes effectively.
* Full working rights in Spain.
