We’re now looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing team in Mechelen.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on delivering customer projects successfully while supporting and growing a small engineering team.
You’ll stay close to the technology — shaping solutions, guiding technical decisions, and maintaining engineering quality — while also taking ownership of delivery, coordination, and team leadership.
You’ll work on our Transaction Observability platform, built in Java using technologies including Elasticsearch, Apache Kafka, and Kubernetes.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading the technical delivery of customer projects and key workstreams
* Supporting solution design and reviewing code to maintain high engineering standards
* Managing and coaching a small team of engineers
* Working closely with customers, project managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into workable delivery plans
* Keeping projects on track through good organisation, prioritisation, and risk management
* Improving the way we work as we scale — processes, tooling, delivery practices, and team collaboration
* Helping drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows across delivery teams (we actively use Claude throughout the engineering lifecycle)
* Operating with a high level of autonomy, balancing technical decisions with delivery ownership
We’d like to hear from you if you have:
* A strong software engineering background, ideally in Java-based environments
* Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, or managing small technical teams
* Experience working in customer-facing delivery or implementation environments
* A solid understanding of modern engineering and delivery practices
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with both customers and technical teams
* An interest in how AI-assisted development can improve engineering productivity and delivery outcomes
