Offer Description
IREC is seeking a Business Development professional to design and implement the business plan and manage stakeholder engagement for a new real‑environment, industrial‑scale experimentation and demonstration platform for clean and resource‑efficient technologies (CleanTech). The goal is to support companies in enhancing innovation and competitiveness, turning the major challenge of the energy transition into an opportunity for business and growth.
The PRIMA platform, which integrates six pilot plants in areas such as Renewable Energy Digitalisation and Grid Integration, Energy Storage, Sustainable Buildings, Hydrogen Systems, Bioenergy and Waste/CO₂ Valorisation, as well as Sustainable Mobility, is currently under construction in Gurb (Osona) and has been recognised as a strategic infrastructure and project within the European STEP programme.
The selected professional will work with the PRIMA Platform team and strengthen collaboration with internal stakeholders within IREC and the external ecosystem, where more than 150 stakeholders are already familiar with PRIMA. The goal is to enhance interaction and engagement ahead of its commissioning in Q3 2027. For this reason, we are looking for a professional with knowledge of the energy sector and experience in business development and client engagement, combined with a background in innovation and technological project management.
In particular, experience is required in: i) understanding the vision and expectations of energy‑sector companies regarding different technologies and their implementation in solutions, products, services, etc.; ii) conducting market analyses, benchmarks, business models and business plans, as well as communication, social media and dissemination activities; iii) collaborating with technology centres and implementing collaboration frameworks and agreements; iv) developing initiatives and pilot or demonstration projects for new technologies and solutions aimed at market introduction or large‑scale deployment.
The candidate must be highly qualified, with proven professional experience of more than 5 years in the energy sector and its value chain, and an additional 5 years in business development roles and client portfolio management, preferably involving technological and innovation‑related products or activities. Strong communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills are required, along with teamwork abilities, flexibility, results orientation, initiative and leadership.
This position may require occasional work outside regular hours or a modified schedule to ensure that the needs of the role are met. Regarding the workplace location, until the PRIMA platform becomes operational, the position will be based at IREC’s offices in Barcelona, with options for teleworking. However, starting from Q3 2027, the workplace will be the PRIMA platform headquarters in Gurb (Osona).
The salary will be defined in accordance with IREC’s salary policy and Career Plan, based on the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. The expected category within the Career Plan for this position is Section Head, with an initial project‑based contract that may later become permanent.
“This position will be funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER‑STEP).”
