Our operations help everything to come together at Amazon. Our Sr Operations Managers are responsible for all safety, budgetary, people development and operations objectives for an entire Fulfillment Site. Responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the site.
Key job responsibilitiesOwn and deliver the operational budget for the whole FC, including safety, productivity, financial planning, labor planning, and operational goalsProvide strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season planningSet clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area ManagersMeasure performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountableDrive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the SC to meet and exceed business planLeverage the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional areaTake proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the networkWork closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Site Leaders/General Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as providing needed support and resources for other network initiativesBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited universityEnglish and Spanish fluent6+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment6+ years Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies6+ years Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminationsCandidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidaysPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Engineering, Operations or related technical field;
MBA or Master’s degree preferredAbility to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situationInterest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple buildings across the nationPrior leadership development training or participationTrack record of effectively leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff of at least 100Demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization
