Purpose of the position
Lead and develop the category functions, including Category and Supplier Development, with a focus on high performance and continuous improvement. Create, develop, and execute category strategies, supplier preferencing, and selection to maximize total acquisition cost with sustainable and operational performance across Hiab. Secure benchmark total cost of ownership, drive profitability, and support growth. Act as the sourcing representative in the Divisional Leadership team, with overall ownership of sourcing deliverables for both direct and indirect categories into the division P&L.
Main tasks and responsibilities
* Lead the planning and execution of the category strategy across all Hiab spend to optimize resource utilization over the entire product lifecycle, addressing strategic commercial sourcing requirements, supplier preferencing, consolidation, and pipelines to ensure supply continuity and meet emerging business needs.
* Own and monitor Hiab-wide supplier performance within the category, utilizing category supplier development resources and QDCI balanced scorecard methodology to improve key metrics.
* Establish and lead collaboration between key suppliers, R&D, supplier development, and business lines to foster innovation, drive business growth, improve cash flow and margins, and ensure a customer-focused approach with suppliers.
* Provide cross-functional leadership and participate in New Product Development, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), early supplier involvement, technology development, productivity initiatives, total cost reduction programs, should-cost modeling, indirect sourcing, and system implementations.
* Develop and present a category technology roadmap to division leadership and NPD teams.
* Manage supplier scalability, risk, and improvement programs to enhance productivity and ensure an efficient supply chain within the category.
* Identify and develop new suppliers within BCC countries to support current and future business needs.
* Implement and execute services strategies, including branding, to increase capture rates and spare part revenues.
* Ensure the Category Sourcing team leverages synergies from Hiab Business Lines and Supplier Development through shared category and vendor sustainability/risk management tools and processes.
* Develop the Category Sourcing team through leadership, mentoring, and performance management.
* Participate actively in the Sourcing Leadership Team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to the Category, Site Sourcing, and Supplier Development organizations.
What you’ll need to succeed
* Third-level or Master’s degree in engineering or business discipline.
* 7-10 years of relevant global industrial experience (truck, construction machinery, mining, agriculture, or automotive).
* 7-10 years in Sourcing or Supply Chain roles, with at least 5 years in senior management within a multinational, multi-site, global company.
* Experience leading transformational change successfully.
* Proven ability to develop and implement long-term business relationships and strategies.
* Strong people management skills, focusing on employee development.
* Excellent communication skills—oral, written, and presentation—especially towards stakeholders and senior management.
* Teamwork, collaboration, and leadership qualities.
* Willingness and ability to travel, sometimes at short notice.
