This area is responsible for the design of electronic devices and products for the space segment, ground segment, and support tools (GSE), with a strong focus on radio systems.
He or she will be responsible for the design and verification of new digital electronics products, particularly those focused on communications systems based on SDR and/or onboard computers.
Additionally, the candidate will provide technical analyses to evaluate the performance of communication systems and develop new concepts and architectures.What you will be doing?
Requirements analysisPerforming trade-offs and studies necessary to provide the best solution to the proposed problemElectronic design based on microcontrollers, FPGAs, or SoCsElectronic design of Power Distribution Networks (PDN) based on a power budgetElectronic design of communication interfaces including drivers: CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, LVDS, etc.Electronic design with radio transceivers (ADC/DAC converters)PCB design: translating schematic designs into a manufacturable layout (PCBA)Design of support elements for testing (EGSEs), including cable harness definitionCollaboration with the mechanical team for the development of shielding or metallic enclosures for the deviceDevelopment and description of verification and test plansFunctional and electrical verification of developed devicesElectrical and interface testing in the laboratoryMaintenance of designs and productsSupport to the Systems Engineering team in identifying new communication concepts and architecturesCollaboration with software and FPGA teams for electronic design and test developmentSupport to the production team for verification of stable productsPreparation of technical documentation: ICDs, datasheets, etc.Design of interface boardsEvaluation and implementation of customized modifications to existing Alén Space productsTechnical support to the sales team, including meetings with clients during decision-making phasesTechnical support to the post-sales team, including client meetingsWhat Do We Need In Our TeamThe applicant must be fluent in English.Experience in communications and electronic systems.Experience using electronic design tools such as Altium Designer.Knowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) systems.Experience in designing high-speed and controlled-impedance lines.Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of digital electronics instrumentation equipment.Basic knowledge of RF electronics.Design of high-density PCBs (= 4 layers).
Valuable knowledge:Knowledge of ECSS standards and/or other international quality standards (e.g., ITU).
Electrical circuit simulation.Signal integrity simulation and testing.Experience in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.Theoretical understanding of space communications concepts.Experience in DDR memory routing.Experience in routing high-speed lines and buses (Ethernet, USB, LVDS).
