About Crag
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences.
CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB).
The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data ().
Responsibilities
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group Structure and evolution of plant genomes.
The Candidate Will Be In Charge Of
Assemble genomes obtained by ONT-long read sequencing
Annotate and analyze the TE content of genomes
Develop mutant lines of P. patens and perform experiments of in vivo transposition with tagged TEs in this species
The tasks are included within the framework of the project "Los transposones, un motor de la evolución de los genomas de plantas", with reference code PID***********NB-I00.
Requirements
BS in Biology or similar
Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatic or similar
Complementary courses or stays in molecular biology laboratories in Spain and abroad
Experience
Experience in analyzing ONT long-read sequences
Experience on transposon annotation and analysis
Experience on cultivation and transformation of P. patens lines
Working Conditions
Contract Duration: 2 months
Hours/week: full time
