JOB DESCRIPTION
1. The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing daily operations during their assigned shift, ensuring performance, productivity, and quality targets are met.
2. This role manages a team of Team Leaders, driving operational excellence, team engagement, and continuous improvement across all processes.
TASKS
Operations Management
3. Ensure the correct execution of all operational processes during the shift (inbound, outbound, picking, packing, etc.)
4. Monitor KPIs (productivity, quality, service level, safety) and take corrective actions when needed
5. Guarantee adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Team Leadership
6. Manage, coach, and develop a team of Team Leaders
7. Provide clear direction, priorities, and expectations at the beginning of each shift
8. Conduct regular performance follow-ups and feedback sessions
9. Support Team Leaders in managing their teams effectively
Planning & Coordination
10. Align workforce planning with operational needs and volume forecasts
11. Ensure proper resource allocation across different areas
12. Coordinate with other departments (HR, Planning, Quality, Maintenance)
Continuous Improvement
13. Identify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiency initiatives (LEAN mindset)
14. Support implementation of new processes, tools, and best practices
Health & Safety
15. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
16. Promote a safety-first culture and address any risks immediately
Reporting
17. Provide shift reports including performance analysis, incidents, and action plans
18. Escalate any operational risks or issues to management
MUST HAVE skills
19. Proven experience in a supervisory or similar role within logistics/operations
20. Experience managing Team Leaders or middle management
21. Strong leadership and people management skills
22. Analytical mindset with ability to manage KPIs and performance
23. Good communication and problem-solving skills
24. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN is a plus)
25. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
26. Flexibility to work shifts
