The Biofuels & Oxygenates Trader will support and progressively take ownership of physical trading activities across biofuels, bio‑based feedstocks, and fuel blending components. The role focuses on identifying, structuring, and executing profitable trading opportunities while ensuring full compliance with sustainability schemes and regulatory frameworks (RED II / RED III and national mandates). The position is designed for a trader who will grow into a core member of the biofuels desk.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Market Activities
Trade biofuels, bio-feedstocks and blending components including ethanol, methanol, ETBE and MTBE.
Identify and capture market structure, cross‑regional arbitrage and blending opportunities.
Structure spot and term contracts, manage price exposure, and support P&L generation in line with desk strategy.
Market Analysis & Intelligence
Monitor global biofuels, ethanol, methanol and oxygenates market fundamentals, including supply/demand, price formation, freight, and regulatory developments.
Provide regular market updates, price indications, and blending economics to trading and internal stakeholders.
Translate regulatory, sustainability, and specification changes into actionable commercial decisions.
Origination & Counterparty Management
Develop and maintain relationships with producers, traders, blenders, and end‑users.
Support origination of new biofuels and oxygenates flows and assess new suppliers and logistics routes.
Participate in counterparty due diligence, credit coordination, and commercial negotiations.
Sustainability & Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable sustainability schemes (ISCC, REDCert, Nabisy) and internal procedures.
Coordinate with sustainability, regulatory, and operations teams on traceability, documentation, and audits.
Incorporate GHG intensity, feedstock eligibility, and regulatory value into commercial decision‑making.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience
2–6 years of experience in commodities trading, preferably biofuels, ethanol, oxygenates, or related energy markets.
Education
Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
Strong commercial judgement with solid analytical and numerical skills.
Understanding of biofuels, ethanol, methanol and gasoline blending economics.
Knowledge of sustainability and regulatory frameworks.
Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are an advantage.
