Associate or Senior Editor, Nature
Locations: Shanghai or Madrid – hybrid working model.

About the Role
You will work with the biology editorial team as an Associate or Senior Editor in Applied Genomics and Technology. Your responsibilities include handling and growing content in areas such as genome engineering, synthetic biology, omics‑based diagnosis, and cancer genomics. You will solicit primary research content in areas of strategic priority, manage peer review of manuscripts in collaboration with your team, engage with the scientific community through conferences and site visits, and organize special projects and events.
Responsibilities
* Report to the relevant deputy editor and collaborate with editorial colleagues worldwide.
* Play an important role in influencing the representation of their fields in the journal and representing the journal to the international research community.
* Handle original research papers and review material: offer well‑reasoned and timely editorial decisions incorporating expert advice.
* Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and experts in the international research community.
* Editorial experience is not required; applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply and may potentially be considered for a Senior Editor position.
Qualifications
* Research experience to PhD level (or equivalent) in relevant disciplines (medical sciences or biological sciences), ideally with some post‑doctoral research experience.
* A passion for science and a thirst to learn more, with breadth of interest beyond your expertise.
* The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted from different areas of the discipline.
* Be eager to interact with scientists worldwide and to help them understand what the journal seeks in submissions.
* A collaborative spirit: work in a team, support and mentor others, and maximize collective success.
* Flexibility: comfortable with a fast‑paced environment.
* Outstanding organization and time‑management skills; set priorities and adapt quickly to change.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (written and spoken).
