The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research centre dedicated to research and innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the aim of finding a cure for these diseases. Since its creation in 2010, IJC has experienced exponential growth and is accredited as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence and as an Accredited Health Research Institute by the Carlos III Health Institute.

IJC is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus and works in partnership with six reference hospitals, fostering collaboration between basic and clinical researchers. The institute is part of the network of Excellence Research Centres of Catalonia (CERCA) and is affiliated with the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol.
About the Role
The Institute is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Stem Cell Biology, Developmental Leukemia and Immunotherapy group led by Dr. Pablo Menéndez.
Research Description
This group focuses on understanding the cellular origin, etiology and pathogenesis of childhood leukemia, identifying the cell of mutation onset, discovering relapse‑triggering cells, and developing targeted, less toxic therapies using genetic studies, epigenetic techniques, animal models and adoptive cell immunotherapy tools.
Main Responsibilities
- Execute in vitro and in vivo assays using cell lines and primary AML samples
- Implement experimental methods in molecular biology, genetic engineering and cell culture
- Design and perform experiments with experimental mice
- Utilize specialized analytical systems, including flow cytometry
What We Need
- Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, or a related field
- Accredited Training Course for Laboratory Animal Personnel (functions a–d: care, euthanasia, procedures and project design) in rodents
- Experience with mouse models, especially in the context of acute myeloid leukemia
- Experience in molecular biology and genetic engineering techniques (shRNA, CRISPR, etc.)
- Experience in flow cytometry
- Fluency in English
- Willingness to learn and strong teamwork skills
- Pro‑active, responsible and well‑organized
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with other team members
