**We're looking for **a** **Firmware **Engineer to join our advanced technologies** **team in Granada, Spain.**

**The Position**:
**What you’ll be doing**:

- You will have the responsibility for understanding the requirements and assisting in the development of a project that includes highly innovative elements.
- In collaboration with our Grants and Quality teams, you will ensure that your developments are produced according to specification.
- You will use your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure the highest quality for the results in accordance with the allotted schedule, effort, and budget.
- You will work with the latest and greatest in Resilient PNT and deterministic technologies!
- You will have effective communication with other project partners, project managers, and will be constantly communicating with them from project kick-offs to stakeholder meetings.
- You will write deliverables, dissemination materials, and assist in communication activities related to the project.

You will also attend workshops and other events of interest.
- You will be developing the key firmware and software elements of a prototype White Rabbit system for wireless timing transfer.

This will include, but is not limited to, writing custom kernel modules and extensions to our synchronization protocols.
- You will be expected to validate the software components that you implement, ensure their operation in embedded Linux, and debug complex issues arising from the integration of multiple SW and FPGA elements on an embedded system.
- Lastly, you will assist with the validation activities of the prototype by deploying in-lab proofs of concept or even automated tests.

**What you Bring to Orolia**:

- Master’s Degree in Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Excellent written and dissemination skills in English (advanced Cambridge certificate or similar, at least similar speaking skills).
- Technical skills in general software development, embedded Linux, software engineering, and Linux kernel driver development and debugging.
- Minimum requirement of 2 years’ experience in:

- Embedded Linux generation tools and build systems (e.g., Buildroot, Petalinux,).
- Embedded software development and debugging for embedded Linux and standalone (e.g., microcontrollers, baremetal for Xilinx devices).
- Knowledge of the main Xilinx tools for embedded firmware (Vitis, Vivado HLS/SDK,).
- Provable experience in development of Linux kernel network drivers, DMA modes, and custom modifications to the kernel.

Sound knowledge of the Linux kernel and file systems is also a must.
- Strong automation and scripting skills (e.g., bash, TCL,).
- Strong knowledge of the main programming languages for embedded and agile prototyping, including C, C++, Python,
- Extensive experience with repositories and version control (Git, SVN,).
- Desirable experience in:

- Linux networking, Xilinx AXI DMA, and management of serial transmission interfaces from kernel space, such as generic PHYs or GTx transceivers from Xilinx.
- Previous knowledge of timing, synchronization, and frequency dissemination protocols (e.g., PTP, NTP, SyncE, or others) would be appreciated.
- Previous experience in R&D; projects.
- Previous knowledge of the Xilinx architecture, e.g., Zynq-7000, Ultra

Scale, Zynq-MPSoC, is also desirable.
- Knowledge of HDL logic design (VHDL/Verilog, IP core generation, test bench simulation) would be a bonus.
- Working knowledge of cross compilation toolchains for different platforms (e.g., ARM SoCs, LM32,.) would be desirable.
- A working understanding of the main indicators to characterize the performance of oscillators and timing transfer methodologies, such as Phase Noise, Allan Deviation,
