We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced HEAD of R&D (Medical Devices) to join our innovation team at our site in Sant Vicenç dels Horts (Barcelona).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead the R&D strategy for medical devices, driving innovation and ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and business objectives.
* Manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Senior and Junior Project Leaders, fostering collaboration, growth, and technical excellence.
* Oversee the full product development cycle — from concept and design to industrialization and market launch.
* Ensure the quality, feasibility, and regulatory compliance of all developments (ISO 13485, MDR, FDA, etc.).
* Collaborate closely with Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Production, and Marketing teams to ensure project alignment and success.
* Optimize resources and budgets, ensuring efficient and effective execution of R&D projects.
* Contribute to the company’s technological vision alongside the Executive Management team, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
* Define purchasing specifications and initially qualify suppliers until product transfer to manufacturing, setting guidelines for subsequent supply procurement.
* Work closely with the Executive Management to align R&D strategy with the company’s overall technological vision and contribute to its implementation.
DESIRED PROFILE:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Engineering, Health Sciences (Pharmacy, Biology), Chemical Sciences, or similar.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D environments within the medical device sector or related fields, with at least 5 years leading technical teams or complex active product development projects across all phases: design, validation, manufacturing processes, and quality.
* Experience using 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks, for participation in technical design and product development projects.
* Leadership, strategic vision, strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills, results orientation, creativity, innovation, analytical thinking, critical reasoning, effective communication, and professional integrity.
* Ability to make strategic decisions, cooperative spirit, global business vision, and high expectations for professional growth.
