Backend Engineer - Fixed Term Contract / Infrastructure and AutomationWe're looking for a number of Backend Engineers to help build robust services and automation pipelines that support next generation AI and quantum inspired technologies. The team enables model compression that reduces LLM size by up to 95 percent and cuts inference costs by up to 80 percent, allowing global organisations to deploy AI at scale with far greater efficiency.This is a fixed term contract, based in Zaragoza, working on a hybrid basis through mid 2026 and includes a competitive package with signing and retention bonuses (plus relocation assistance if needed)In this role you will:- Develop and maintain backend services in Python or Go- Build APIs and microservices that power internal tools and research workflows- Work with Docker and cloud environments to deploy scalable systems- Design relational schemas and manage database integrations- Automate workflows across data, CI or CD, and machine learning systems- Collaborate with product and design teams to define backend contracts for intuitive user experiences- Contribute to observability, testing, and continuous delivery practicesWhat you'll need:- Two to five years backend development experience- Strong understanding of REST or gRPC service design- Experience with Docker and familiarity with Kubernetes- Proficiency with PostgreSQL or MySQL and schema design- Experience automating or integrating workflows across multiple systems- Solid Git practices plus experience with CI or CD tools- Cloud experience with AWS or similar environments- Exposure to ML pipelines, model serving, or event driven architectures is a plus- Interest in turning prototypes into stable production servicesIf you're excited to work at the intersection of backend engineering, automation, and advanced AI workloads, we'd be glad to share more.If you're motivated by creating clean, thoughtful interfaces that streamline complex workflows, we'd love to hear from you.In accordance with local employment laws, applicants must have current, valid authorisation to work in Spain at the time of application.
