We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Tax & Compliance Specialist to ensure accurate compliance with payroll tax regulations and reporting for our workforce across the U.S. and Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Tax Management
Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and provincial payroll tax regulations.
Stay vigilant on tax law changes and implement required updates.
Prepare and file various payroll-related tax returns.
Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to resolve tax issues.
Audit & Controls
Maintain compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
Establish payroll controls and address any discrepancies found.
Support internal and external audits and implement necessary corrective actions.
Regulatory Reporting
Manage tax filings and remittances to authorities in the U.S. and Canada.
Track statutory benefits, deductions, and tax payments.
Ensure accurate record-keeping and reliable audit trails.
Collaboration & Employee Support
Work closely with HR, Finance, and IT teams to enhance payroll accuracy.
Provide compliance training and guidance to payroll teams.
Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll taxes and deductions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Possessing a CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is preferred.
Holding an ACPA (Accredited Canadian Payroll Administrator) certification is advantageous.
At least 5 years of experience in payroll tax compliance, with a minimum of 2 years dealing with U.S. and Canadian payroll tax regulations.
Proficient in payroll systems, tax filings, and year-end reporting.
Demonstrated expertise in audit management and compliance.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex tax laws.
Strong problem-solving and time-management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various payroll software.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
