Role Purpose
The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional for our Methodology and Statistics Unit https://www.irsjd.org/ca/servei-cientificotecnics/metodologia-i-estadis. We are looking for profiles with expertise in statistics and methodology for clinical and biomedical research projects.
The Unit has four main objectives: a) to provide service to the Sant Joan de Déu research community by offering methodological and statistical advice during project preparation to improve quality; b) to support development and management of databases; c) to perform statistical analyses and support publication of results; d) to train researchers through workshops.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Support and provide methodological/statistical advice during project proposal preparation: review of methodology, study design, variable definition, database design.
2. Calculate and justify sample sizes.
3. Review or draft methodology and statistical analysis sections.
4. Conduct statistical analyses for research projects.
5. Assist in interpreting reports.
6. Resolve inquiries (e.g., scale validation).
7. Create and support database development, including using REDCap and managing REDCap servers.
8. Support dataset publication, including anonymization.
9. Develop training materials, guides, and courses on statistics applied to research, database creation, and methodology.
Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or Statistics, with postgraduate training (Master’s / postgraduate) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or similar.
* Proficiency in programming languages and libraries for statistical analysis (R, STATA, SPSS, SAS).
* Database management skills.
* Experience in similar roles and applied biostatistics in clinical practice.
* High proficiency in English (written and spoken).
* Strong expertise in methodology, clinical study design, and healthcare perspective.
* Experience in biomedical research environments.
* Demonstrable experience in scientific collaboration (projects, publications).
* Teaching experience in methodological or statistical training for clinical professionals.
* Near completion or possession of a PhD in related fields.
* Knowledge of REDCap.
* Leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with an open and approachable attitude, critical thinking, and a focus on scientific excellence.
* Client service orientation, teamwork, proactivity, resilience, and adaptability.
