Key Tasks
* Conduct periodic analysis and benchmarking of emerging AI tools and libraries relevant to mission planning.
* Design and develop AI models for the identification and classification of anomalous maritime behaviors and threats.
* Apply Explainable AI (xAI) techniques to provide transparency to black‑box predictive models.
* Research and implement algorithms to generate synthetic datasets for training and validating AI models.
* Integrate developed AI solutions into existing mission system software architectures.
* Design and produce technical documentation for the solutions.
Learning Objectives
* Develop a deep understanding of the functional and technical environment of Airbus Mission Planners.
* Gain practical experience applying Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning to real‑world defense scenarios.
* Acquire specialised knowledge in anomaly detection and pattern‑recognition within maritime data.
* Master techniques for explaining and validating complex AI models (xAI).
* Learn professional software‑engineering standards for integrating research‑based solutions into production‑ready software.
Project Context
The internship will be hosted within the Mission Systems department, specifically the Mission Planner Development team. The intern will contribute to R&D initiatives focused on enhancing decision‑making capabilities for maritime surveillance and mission management systems through next‑generation technologies.
Tools & Methodologies
* Programming and frameworks: Python, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit‑learn.
* AI techniques: supervised/unsupervised learning, anomaly detection algorithms, and synthetic data generators.
* Development environment: version control (Git) and integration with mission system architectures.
* Methodologies: black‑box modeling and xAI (Explainable AI) frameworks.
Required Qualifications
* Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
* Level B2 English proficiency.
