Simulation Engineer – Actalent Services
Actalent Services is partnering with a confidential global organisation to support advanced simulation initiatives within highly complex operational environments. We are seeking a Simulation Engineer to design and deliver discrete event simulation models that inform large-scale network and process design decisions.
Role Overview
The Simulation Engineer will design, build, validate, and deliver discrete event simulations that model material flow, automation, and system interactions across sophisticated operational systems. This role focuses on transforming complex and often ambiguous processes into robust simulation models that support strategic and long-term decision making.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and deliver discrete event simulation solutions for complex operational systems using tools such as FlexSim, Demo3D, AnyLogic, or other DES platforms
* Develop simulation models representing material flow, automation, robotics, and process control logic
* Conduct strategic modelling and simulation research to evaluate process design alternatives and operational trade-offs
* Apply simulation science best practices to simplify complex problems and improve model efficiency, accuracy, and reliability
* Tackle ambiguous, high-impact process flow challenges with limited existing structure
* Produce high-quality simulation outputs, including technical documentation and model validation artefacts
* Influence business decisions by clearly communicating simulation outcomes, risks, and recommendations
* Use advanced statistical and simulation techniques, including Python or other object-oriented languages, for data analysis and model development
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors on equipment specification, material flow logic, site layout, and process design
* Deliver simulation results in line with agreed project timelines and quality expectations
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience delivering discrete event simulations for complex systems
* Hands-on expertise with DES software such as FlexSim, Demo3D, AnyLogic, or equivalent
* Experience modelling automation, robotics, or large-scale material handling systems
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
