**Position Description**:The Data Analyst Expert is part of the Data Analyst Family of IT positions.**Business Skills**:Data Analyst Experts are expected to have deep understanding of business needs and how to address those needs with effective data models and IT solutions.- Maintain awareness of current and planned projects within their IT group in order to promote analytics, data and solution sharing- Collaborate with customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to define detailed functional and technical requirements- Assess available technologies, then develop and present viable historical, real-time, and/or predictive solutions- Maintain general knowledge of relevant data ingestion, integration and visualization processes and possibly participate in planning processes.**Technical Skills**:Individuals in this job position have technical expertise at an in-depth level and are in the process of acquiring a broader knowledge of various technical areas.- Translate business requirements into data model(s) and visualization designs, and/or communicate the need for predictive analytics when required to support PPG businesses decisions.- Perform feasibility studies, translate requirements into an appropriate design, formulate and define project scope and objectives, and implement complete solutions- Prepare detailed technical specifications, to include transformations, visualizations and calculations from which analytics solutions will be developed- Recommend appropriate data security solutions where applicable- Ensure data models and analytics are developed in a way that complies with standards and established methodologies and practices- Understand expected system performance criteria for source and target technologies, and define extraction and ingestion/integration procedures accordingly- May create, modify, and test programming code themselves or provide technical consulting support on projects or system issues- Often expected to be involved in the creation and validation of data models, visualizations, anduser documentation- Oversee the creation of data modeling source code, operations, and user documentation**Project Management Skills**:A Data Analyst Expert must be familiar with project management techniques and may have project leadership responsibilities in some instances.- Provide technical leadership on one or more projects and are expected to give direction to both PPG employees and contract resources. They may oversee multiple small projects simultaneously while managing a single large one.- Participate in prioritizing resources and tasks, developing risk contingencies, adjusting project scope, interacting with purchasing, and providing management feedback- Identify barriers to meeting project goals, and provide solutions that keep projects on track and on budget- Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts; may be held accountablefor controlling project plans and costs on smaller projects- Effectively assess objectives for the assigned project phases and recommend technical strategies and tactics to achieve business needs**Interpersonal Skills**:A Data Analyst Expert generally does not directly supervise others, but must have demonstrated that they can provide direction to other project team members- Good coaching skills and regularly coach other team members- Proactively foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels- Share responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a team member- Display the requisite verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas / designs to colleagues in multiple functional areas and at varying levels of technical understanding.- Fully demonstrated the ability to mentor and direct others and that you have done so on multiple projects, some of which are outside the area of immediate expertise**Requirements**:- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Data/Systems analysis, design, development, and implementation- Extensive analytical abilities and technical skills to evaluate alternative approaches and recommend the most feasible and economical solutions- Proficiency in Data Warehousing/Big data architectures, analytical and design techniques, database technologies, and programming languages, including Business Intelligence- Proven ability to design systems using the appropriate architecture such as Hive, SQL DB, or AAS along with visualization tools like Power BI- Extensive analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications, and implement complete
