You will engage with clients to support their most challenging business initiatives, helping them to make the right decisions for their role and business. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply. You will collaborate with peers and become a published author on Gartner.com, showcasing your own thought‑leading research and growing your knowledge and brand as a Gartner Analyst. /p ul liConduct research and analysis in data security, with a focus on interdisciplinary use cases such as design, technologies and strategies to enable secure data access through attribute‑based access control (ABAC) and role‑based access control (RBAC), the securing of data in the age of Generative AI, multi‑cloud environments, and regulatory demands pertaining to data residency and privacy. /li liRespond to client questions and deliver high‑quality actionable advice via a variety of media. /li liWrite high‑quality, clear, actionable insight documents focused on the strategic and practical considerations of data security programs and technologies. /li liPredict how data security markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and provide feedback to vendors on emerging trends in buyer needs. /li liCollaborate with peers from the data security, privacy and identity and access management teams to remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas. /li liProactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support to retain and grow the business. /li /ul h3What you’ll need /h3 ul liSubject matter expertise in data security technologies that enable scalable implementation and management of data security objectives, such as Data Security Posture Management, Data Security Platforms and Data Loss Prevention tools. /li liLifelong learning mindset with foundational knowledge and experience in data security, data privacy, access controls for data and Cybersecurity in general. /li liUnderstanding of data and cloud security concepts and markets, including ensuring the security of data for human and machine identities across cloud infrastructure. /li liFamiliarity with the Data Loss Prevention capabilities of vendors like Microsoft, Zscaler, Netskope, CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks. /li liDeep understanding of Generative AI and the use of AI Agents, including familiarity with retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), IAM dependencies and related data security concepts. /li liFundamentals of Data Security such as data classification, data discovery, data security risks introduced by Generative AI, intersection of Data Security and Identity and Access Management, and data security governance. /li liKnowledge of security standards and regulations such as NIST, ISO, CISA, GDPR, PCI, HIPAA and export controls. /li liReal‑world implementation experience in implementing, staffing and operating data security programs and solutions in diverse environments. /li liExperience participating in matrixed projects and providing guidance regarding data security objectives across teams and tools focused on IAM, Cloud Security, Data and Analytics, Generative AI, Workspace Security and Cybersecurity Governance. /li liBusiness acumen, intellectual agility, collaboration, communication, leadership and influence, ownership and impact. /li liMinimum of 12 years of experience in a research or technology‑related role and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. /li liOccasional travel regionally and globally. /li /ul h3Who we are /h3 pAt Gartner, Inc.
