Ph3The Institute /h3 pThe Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies. /p pIn April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code). /p pPlease, check out our Recruitment Policy /p h3The role /h3 pWe are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to assume the role of Head of Facility Management department who is excited by delivering timely and high-quality services in an international and dynamic scientific environment. /p pReporting directly to the Administrative Director, the Head of Facility Management shall be responsible for the maintenance and security of the CRG spaces (around 10.000 m2 located in two sites: PRBB and Marenostrum Tower) and associated assets and equipment, as well as planning and building of new construction projects and refurbishments. They will provide effective leadership and management of the Facility Management team, comprising 9 staff members in total: 2 internal staff, and 7 outsourced staff responsible for scientific maintenance, cleaning and sterilization, technical maintenance, waste management, and building maintenance. /p pThe successful candidate will be working closely with the scientific community and Administration staff, in particular with the CRG technical-related services responsible for purchasing of scientific equipment, IT, scientific-technical services and floor managers. /p h3Main duties and responsibilities /h3 ul lipDesign and manage infrastructure and general services to ensure smooth operation of laboratories, units, and offices. /p /li lipSupervise the department daily operations (building and equipment maintenance and associated general services, construction and refurbishment works, emergency plan, sustainability) to deliver quality, timely and cost-effective services. /p /li lipLead efforts to improve the facility management processes, identify bottlenecks or improvement areas and implement strategic solutions/projects on time. This includes the design of improvement plans for energy, sustainability, scientific maintenance equipment and renovation plan. /p /li lipManage the infrastructure and general services budget of the institute, including negotiations with providers, management of outsourced services, prepare and write technical documentation for Public Tenders to be published related to infrastructure procurement, and maintenance of contracts within the framework of the public procurement and funding agency regulations, ensuring cost effectiveness whilst maintaining a high level of quality and service. /p /li lipRecruit, train, and lead internal and outsourced staff, including the sterilization/cleaning team and maintenance technician. /p /li lipRegularly check if Facility Management policies, procedures and service levels are being properly implemented. /p /li lipDevelop best practices and written documentation, as well as assess the department activity using KPIs. /p /li lipOversee hazardous waste management and represent Facility Management in relevant CRG committees (Technical, Occupational Risk Prevention, Sustainability) and also external committees, and serve as the Head of Emergencies for CRG. /p /li lipMaintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and adapt policies and practices as needed. /p /li /ul h3About the department /h3 pThe Facility Management Department is responsible for the maintenance, security and emergency plan protocols of the CRG spaces (around 10.000 m2 located in two sites: PRBB and Marenostrum Tower) and associated assets and equipment, as well as planning and building of new construction projects, including refurbishments and modifications. /p pThe specific services offered are included below: /p ul lipMaintenance and general services of the spaces and equipment. This shall include the maintenance and security of spaces, maintaining and repairing general equipment and highly specialised equipment in wet labs and facilities, overseeing the surveillance and alarm systems for biological samples stored at –20ºC, –80ºC and in cryogenic tanks. Finally, it encompasses also the supervision of the services provided by the PRBB and Marenostrum: cleaning, security and maintenance (e.g. power, air conditioning and data sockets). /p /li /ul ul lipEmergency Plan Control: Ensure the safety of the facilities by collaborating closely with the Health and Safety department and the PRBB in the design and implementation of the Building Emergency Plan, and lead its execution at the CRG level. /p /li /ul ul lipPlanning and building of new construction projects, including refurbishments and modifications. It shall include the definition of the requirements with users, the coordination and supervision of all phases of the project with the external providers, from conceptual planning to completion and ensuring that the building and refurbishment projects are completed on time and within budget. Management and monitoring of the Mercat del Peix project. /p /li /ul ul lipSustainability: Oversee the implementation of the Sustainability Plan and manage and implement various activities towards the “Green CRG” initiative in collaboration with the CRG Working Group “Sustainability” aiming at reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainability at the CRG. /p /li /ul ul lipOther responsibilities include general services related to the building: gas, water, plumbing, electricity, cooling, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, waste disposal, including biohazardous waste. /p /li /ul h3Whom would we like to hire? /h3 pbProfessional experience /b /p pbMust Have /b /p ul lipMinimum of 5 years of experience in a senior facility management role, preferably within an international research or academic environment. /p /li lipProven experience in leading and managing teams. /p /li lipKnowledge of Health Safety regulations and/or Emergency Plan protocols /p /li /ul pbDesirable but not required/ Nice to have /b /p ul lipKnowledge of public procurement processes. /p /li /ul pbEducation and training /b /p ul lipHigher education degree (or qualification) equivalent to a master’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field. /p /li /ul ul lipSpecialised training in project management is a plus. /p /li /ul pbLanguages /b /p ul lipAdvanced level of English and Spanish, spoken and written. /p /li /ul ul lipCatalan will be an advantage. /p /li /ul pbTechnical skills /b /p ul lipExcellent command of MS Office (excel, word, power point, outlook). /p /li lipProficient in Autocad drawing software. /p /li lipExperience with Microsoft Project software. /p /li lipKnowledge of ERP (Oracle or SAP) will be an advantage. /p /li lipSound knowledge in Spanish public tender legislation. /p /li lipFamiliarity with Maintenance Management Systems or other ticketing systems is advantageous. /p /li /ul h3Competences /h3 ul lipStrategic project and stakeholder management. /p /li lipStrong organizational, multitasking, and negotiation skills. /p /li lipStrong communication skills. /p /li lipAnalytical and solution-oriented mindset. /p /li lipProfessional and empathetic communication with internal and external partners. /p /li lipCalm, resilient, and adaptable under pressure. /p /li lipCollaborative team player with the ability to work independently. /p /li /ul h3The Offer – Working Conditions /h3 ul lipbContract duration /b: Permanent position. /p /li lipbEstimated annual gross salary /b: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales. /p /li lipbTarget start date /b: As soon as possible. /p /li /ul pWe provide a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructures, and unique professional career development opportunities.
