BUSINESS AREA: Industrial Affairs

LOCATION: Riells i Viabrea

JOB PURPOSE

The HSE Manager is responsible for the Occupational Risk Prevention Service at the Riells plant and ensures that all necessary activities are carried out to comply with the Group’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policy and regulatory standards. This includes covering all areas of occupational risk prevention, either through internal resources or by engaging External Prevention Services, to guarantee the safety of people and assets and protect the environment at the Riells production site.

This position is part of the Site Management Committee and reports directly to the Site Head. The role also includes managing the HSE team of two professionals.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES

1. Ensure coverage of the three technical specialties: Workplace Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics & Psychosociology .
2. Define and implement the HSE Management System (Health, Safety, and Environment) at the Riells Industrial Site to foster a preventive culture and continuous improvement, aiming to prevent accidents, occupational diseases, and minimize the environmental impact of site activities.
3. Perform the duties of a Prevention Technician in accordance with Royal Decree 39/1997 .
4. Investigate HSE incidents and accidents, including environmental ones.
5. Define and monitor corrective and preventive action plans.
6. Define PPE requirements for each job position and ensure their availability for all site employees.
7. · Define and ensure compliance with the training and information plan for all Riells employees to guarantee they have the necessary knowledge in occupational risk prevention.
8. Act as the HSE contact person for the Safety and Health Committee and may be a member of this committee.
9. Define and implement the Emergency Plan and procedures for action in case of occupational or environmental accidents.
10. Act as the Emergency Manager and Crisis Management Coordinator .
11. Develop and implement a management system to enhance sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of the Riells site.
12. Coordinate the environmental impact assessment of the Riells site.

COORDINATOR OF SITE SECURITY

13. Act as the site contact for coordinating corporate-defined security activities.
14. Ensure implementation of security actions as instructed.
15. Report any security incidents occurring at the site to corporate security services.
16. Serve as the contact for the security service provider at Riells.
17. Act as liaison with authorities for any security incidents, required information, or exceptional measures.

REQUIRED SKILLS

18. Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve production goals.

19. GMP Knowledge: Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain compliance with industry standards

20. Management: Overseeing staff schedules, maintaining morale, and developing training programs

21. Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with team members to work towards shared goals.

22. Communication: Both verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, vendors, and senior management

23. Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the production process

24. Project Management: Planning, executing, and closing projects efficiently

25. Time Management: Prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure smooth operations

26. Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in production processes to avoid errors

27. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changes in regulations and production demands

28. Technical Skills: Knowledge of production processes and proficiency in relevant software

29. Safety Management: Ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to safety protocols

30. Quality Control: Ensuring products meet quality standards and implementing quality assurance protocols

31. Knowledge and experience related to the manufacturing and conditioning processes of pharmaceutical products.

REQUIRED TRAINING

PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

32. Security at Issue HSE instructions and procedures applicable to the entire site
33. Establish HSE diagnostics and assessments
34. Develop risk management programs and evaluate their costs
35. Assess the safety level of installation or equipment
36. Analyze risks, make appropriate decisions, and alert Management if necessary
37. Study workstations and risk exposure measurements
38. Issue recommendations for workstation and workplace arrangements
39. Master's degree in HSE or equivalent training

PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL

40. Official Training Master of Workplace Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics & Psychosociology (Real Decret 39/1997 “Reglamento de los Servicios de Prevención”)

41. English Advanced

42. Educational Background: Typically, a bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (e.g., master's or Ph.D.) can be advantageous.

43. GMP Training: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training is essential. This includes understanding the regulations and guidelines that ensure products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards

44. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements from bodies like the FDA (21 CFR 211.25) and EMA is crucial. This includes training on compliance, quality control, and safety standards

45. Role-Specific Training: Training tailored to the specific tasks of a production manager, such as quality control, manufacturing processes, and supervisory skills, is important. This can include hands-on training, mentoring, and assessments

46. Environmental Postgraduate

47. Continuous Education: Ongoing training to stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes is necessary. This can be achieved through workshops, seminars, and online courses
