About the position
The University of Granada is offering a 3.5-year Postdoctoral Researcher position within the brAIn2lang / NeurSpeechXAI project, at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Neuroscience, and Neuroimaging, in collaboration with EHU and BCBL – Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language.
The postdoctoral researcher will work on the development of state-of-the-art AI methods to decode speech and language directly from brain activity, using both non-invasive (EEG) and invasive (sEEG) neural recordings, in close collaboration with experts in AI, cognitive neuroscience, and speech technology.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement advanced machine learning and deep learning models for neural speech and language decoding.
Design and evaluate self-supervised and representation learning approaches for brain signals.
Analyze and process EEG and sEEG data, including preprocessing, feature extraction, and model evaluation.
Investigate cross-subject and cross-session generalization strategies.
Prepare scientific publications for high-impact journals and conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
Solid background in machine learning or deep learning.
Experience working with neural or neuroimaging data (e.g., EEG, sEEG, MEG, fMRI, or similar).
Strong programming skills in Python.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch and/or TensorFlow).
Prior work on speech, language, or neural decoding problems.
Knowledge of self-supervised learning, generative models, or Transformer-based architectures.
Experience with neuroimaging libraries (e.g., MNE or similar).
Interest in explainable AI and model interpretability.
Strong publication record and excellent scientific writing skills.
Technical Skills & Expected Level of Proficiency
Machine Learning & Deep Learning – Proficient
