The Operations Department ensures the continuous daily functioning of the Spanish Supercomputing Network supercomputers and remote access for users both within Spain and internationally. The department handles routine maintenance and operations, as well as planning and designing new systems and support facilities.
We are offering a position for a High-Performance Computing Support Engineer. We seek a candidate enthusiastic about technology and Linux, eager to learn the basics of HPC and develop into a specialist and key team member. We foster a warm, positive work environment with close collaboration.
Key Duties
1. Resolve incidents faced by Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) users during their executions and assist in developing applications for efficient resource use.
2. Support the User Support and Applications Consultant group with performance monitoring and parallel optimization.
3. Develop new solutions to improve user experience with HPC resources.
4. Create automation solutions to streamline incident resolution and daily team tasks.
Requirements
Education
Graduated in Computer Science or related discipline.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
* Experience and knowledge of Linux systems.
* Knowledge of parallel programming models (MPI, OpenMP, threads) is a plus but not mandatory.
* Desirable skills include MySQL, Python, and Bash scripting.
Competences
* Ability to interact and build strong team relations.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in English.
