As part of the Affle group, we are looking for a Backend Engineer for our Mediasmart team: an established professional seasoned in development best practices, willing to learn our technology stack and about our business, as a full time addition to our team, whose main function will be to develop for the backend building the next generation of our AdTech software.
This is a 100% backend position. No web frontend experience is needed. The role will report to the Head of Backend and will be a part of a highly motivated and innovative team using state of the art technologies.

**Summary & Duties**
The Backend Engineer will work within a driven and highly motivated team to maintain our product and develop new functionalities. His/her software will be used in mission critical code powering millions of actions per second.
Below are some of the core responsibilities and requirements we envision for the role, which will be done fully remote (our office is in Madrid, you will be always welcomed to work onsite if preferred):
- Deliver new code fast and reliably, and always ensure that it works in production.
- Be able to promptly solve issues directly in the existing code.
- Proactively analyze areas to improve and propose projects to make our product more effective.
- Interact with other teams to build new features or solve technical issues.
- Participate in software architecture decisions guiding the future of mediasmart.
- Coach and train the rest of the team in technology, processes and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and help your team deliver high quality software.
**Requirements**:
- At least 4-5 years of experience in a similar position or using similar technology.
- Expert knowledge of server side javascript in Node.JS.
- Experience with Go.
- Linux administration.
- CD/CI pipelines and tools, in particular Jenkins.
- Monitoring and Observability (Prometheus, Grafana).
- We value AWS certification in cloud technology.
- Experience with Node.js on distributed highly scalable systems.
- Experience with Rust.
- Experience with NoSQL such as Redis and big data databases: BigQuery, RocksDB...
- Interest in machine learning and statistics. Design and create new algorithms, work with exotic data structures. Follow up the latest developments in scientific papers in the adtech and ML areas.
