Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java Developer to support the development of a major digital transformation initiative within the Public Sector, aimed at modernizing core legacy systems and enhancing operational efficiency across Europe.
Responsibilities
Design and build high-performance, scalable applications using Java and Quarkus. Ensure code quality through maintainable, efficient, and best-practice-aligned development.
Design and optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to support scalability and performance.
Develop and scale microservices leveraging Kafka for event-driven communication. Integrate with the ELK stack for robust logging, monitoring, and diagnostics.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across code and infrastructure. Apply profiling, testing, and fine-tuning techniques to ensure optimal system performance.
Implement DevOps practices using Jenkins, SonarQube, and Nexus. Focus on automation, security, and efficient deployment pipelines.
Apply secure coding principles throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring compliance and resilience against vulnerabilities.
Support junior developers through mentorship and knowledge sharing. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
Take full responsibility for tasks from analysis and design to implementation and deployment. Proactively drive solutions with a focus on quality and timely delivery.
Qualifications
Strong experience in Java, Maven, and Quarkus or Spring for building scalable enterprise applications.
Proficiency with Git (preferably Bitbucket).
Solid expertise in MongoDB and PostgreSQL, with a focus on performance and scalability.
Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven architecture and ELK stack integration.
Deep understanding of performance profiling and optimization across application and database layers.
Skilled in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Nexus for DevOps and CI/CD workflows.
Knowledge of secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Experience working in Agile environments, delivering high-quality software in iterative cycles.
Self-driven and proactive, capable of working independently and owning end-to-end delivery.
Familiarity with performance profiling tools and security tools such as Snyk and OWASP.
