EHS Engineer provides environmental, health, and safety leadership to the site. Accountable for supporting EHS activities at their location(s), including: EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and ensuring documents are available in local languages.
What will you do
Manage the site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Develop, maintain, and achieve goals supporting corporate and division EHS strategic initiatives.
Facilitate risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Work with leadership to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
Determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
Support creation of EHS goals for the site manager and activity-based goals for leadership, functional managers, and supervisors to promote EHS culture, compliance, and results.
Assign EHS element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of EHS elements.
Drive and promote a zero-incident EHS culture throughout the site.
Create and facilitate EHS engagement through teams and committees to accomplish established targets and objectives.
Work with leadership and EHS champions to evaluate compliance with EHS regulations annually.
Pursue third-party recognition for programs that establish the site and Tenneco’s EHS program as world-class.
Use established EHS data processes such as AEGIS to manage data like injuries, illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, and action items.
Create training matrices to define and track all training to completion.
Collaborate with site leadership and facilities to ensure operational controls are in place, on a preventive maintenance program, and EHS action items are resolved timely.
What can make you successful
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in health and safety program management and employee training in an industrial environment.
Understanding of industry, state, and country EHS requirements.
Strong team-building and organizational skills.
Adept at utilizing company-wide systems for EHS data reporting.
Demonstrate managerial courage, managing varied interests and potential conflicts.
Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
