Head of Security Operations
Hybrid 3x per week in the office
Our client a global insurance business are looking for a Head of Security to join them on a permanent basis.
You will help to establish and lead local security operations capability across European offices, providing strategic technical leadership in incident response, cyber threat visibility, and security resilience. This role will bridge the gap between our centralized corporate security services and regional business needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Incident Response & Security Operations
o Lead and mature security incident response capabilities across the organisation
o Oversee incident investigations, alert triage, and threat hunting activities
o Develop and execute tabletop exercises and incident response playbooks
o Provide expert technical guidance during security incidents and recovery efforts
o Build real-time visibility into organisational cyber telemetry and security posture
* Leadership & Team Management
o Line manage and mentor a security engineer and future team members
* Strategic & Stakeholder Engagement
o Partner with third-party security service providers and managed services
o Align regional security operations with global CISO strategy
* Operational Excellence
o Enhance detection and monitoring capabilities aligned to NIS2 / NIST frameworks
o Drive continuous improvement of security tools, processes, and procedures
o Ensure appropriate balance between local autonomy and corporate alignment
o Contribute to broader security strategy and roadmap development
Essential Requirements
* Technical Expertise
o Demonstrable expertise in security incident investigation, detection, response, and recovery (NIST / NIS2 frameworks)
o Strong foundation in security operations, but with strategic vision beyond SOC alert handling
o Experience with security telemetry, SIEM platforms, and threat detection technologies
o Understanding of enterprise security architecture in complex, matrixed organisations
* Experience & Background
o Proven track record maturing incident response and tabletop exercise programs
o Experience working alongside third-party security service providers and corporate security teams
