Company Description:The company is based in Barcelona and aims to revolutionize remote sensing for environmental monitoring and resource management.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the technical direction, design, and integration of cutting-edge aerospace structures and hardware. In this position, your impact extends far beyond standard CAD modeling; This role offers the unique opportunity to command the full lifecycle of flight hardware, moving from high-level conceptualization to orbital reality within a premier engineering environment. The ideal candidate balances deep technical expertise in structural mechanics with the leadership skills necessary to navigate tight deadlines, rigorous standards, and evolving mission requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring both you and your team uphold rigorous standards in documentation, time management, and Agile methodologies to maintain a high-velocity, organized workflow.
Own mechanical design from concept through release, including 3D modeling, structural analysis (FEA), and thermal analysis.Lead the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) of flight hardware, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards and environmental requirements (vibration, shock, TVAC).Lead teams of engineers or technicians, managing workflow, setting schedules, and ensuring safety protocolsConduct Design Reviews (PDR/CDR), perform root cause analyses on non-conformances, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).Select and oversee suppliers for hardware manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred).~ 3–9+ years of experience in the space or aerospace sector, specifically with space mechanism design, high-precision assemblies, or flight hardware.~ Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CREO) and FEA software (e.g., Deep understanding of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfM/DfA), including GD&T and material selection for vacuum environments.~ Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring early-career engineers.~ Knowledge of Agile methodologies.~ Fluent in English.
Experience with environmental test equipment (Thermal Vacuum, Random Vibration)
