Mandarin Oriental Barcelona Hotel has 120 rooms, 28 of which are suites. All of our exquisite rooms and suites are uniquely decorated by Patricia Urquiola. 
In addition to accommodation, the hotel has rooms that we rent for all kinds of events, such as weddings, meetings, business meetings... 
Regarding the hotel's gastronomy, we have a 2 Michelin star restaurant, a wonderful cocktail bar, indoor garden Mimosa and the pool terrace where you can enjoy light dinners or spectacular views. 
The hotel Spa consists of 8 treatment rooms, both facial and body, indoor pool and gym. 
About the job 
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona within the Rooms Division Department in Barcelona, the Concierge (Sick Leave Cover) is responsible for delivering an exceptional and personalized guest experience by assisting with a wide range of services. The Concierge reports to the Head Concierge. 
As Concierge, you will be responsible for the following duties: 
- Provide guests access to all that Barcelona’s and Cataluña has to offer. 
- Offer a warm, sincere and personalized welcome to all guests. 
- Create special conversations with guests, which identify personal preferences in order to record in each guest’s profile history. 
- Have an in depth knowledge of directions, travel time, cost and various forms of transportation. 
- Maintain a constantly updated database with extensive information about city highlights. 
- Demonstrate firsthand knowledge of the recommendations with thorough research. 
- Is proactive and able to anticipate the complete requirements to make the experience a success. 
- Enquire as to the success or enjoyment of the recommendations made. 
- Maintain a consistent and sufficient level of brochures, maps and handouts. 
- Knows how to work with GoConcierge Software. 
- Is knowledgeable of all in-house and arriving guests. 
- Is aware of all daily events in the hotel. 
- Arrange tickets for theatre, sporting events and local attractions. 
- Make and confirm dining reservations. 
- Arrange for package delivery and pickup for guests. 
- Provide guests with a confirmation card for dining reservations, transportation, theatre tickets, etc. 
- Communicate all important details to management and colleagues. 
- Maintain a clean, neat and organized desk. 
- Act as a guide when guests ask for direction and physically assist them to their destination within the hotel. 
- Provide clear directions for all guests travelling outside the hotel. 
- Respond to all guest needs and requests. 
- Other activities as deemed appropriate by the Chief Concierge or Director of Rooms. 
- Other projects as assigned by the management of the Hotel. 
As Concierge, we expect from you: 
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. 
- Excellent Hotel product knowledge. 
- Highly responsible & reliable. 
- Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team and likes to learn from multiculturalism. 
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous. 
- High customer orientation, commitment and professionalism. 
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role in luxury hospitality. 
- Proficiency in English and Spanish. Other languages are a plus.
