Mission The RF Lab Engineer will be responsible for the setup, automation, and optimization of a cutting-edge photonics and RF laboratory. By ensuring precision in measurement systems, managing data workflows, and supporting cross-functional engineering teams, this role plays a key part in accelerating the development of advanced wireless optical communication technologies. Responsibilities Laboratory Operations & Infrastructure Manage and maintain photonics and RF laboratory infrastructure, ensuring optimal functionality and calibration of all instrumentation. Set up complex measurement environments using lasers, power meters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, interferometers, and related systems. Oversee the automation of measurement setups and test benches to ensure reproducibility and throughput. Characterization & Data Analysis Execute high-precision photonic and RF measurements, including photonic integrated circuit (PIC) characterization. Develop data acquisition pipelines and analyze experimental results to guide system and component optimization. Apply rigorous measurement protocols with attention to precision, accuracy, and traceability. Process Automation Implement instrumentation control using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW, interfacing via GPIB, USB, RS232, Ethernet, and VISA protocols. Create reusable scripts and automated workflows to streamline testing, improve repeatability, and reduce manual intervention. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with R&D teams (photonics, RF, electronics, systems) to contribute technical insights that impact product design. Provide lab-based experimental support to prototyping, integration, and validation phases. Documentation & Standardization Develop and maintain detailed lab documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), test plans, calibration routines, and user guides. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Physics, or related discipline, with specialization in laboratory characterization techniques. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a photonics, RF, or electronics lab environment. Advanced knowledge of test instrumentation and lab equipment (e.g., lasers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators). Proficiency in instrumentation control using communication protocols (VISA, GPIB, RS232, USB, Ethernet). Proven experience with Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition. Deep understanding of measurement systems, uncertainty analysis, and calibration practices.
