Engineering Manager - FinTech | Hybrid
We’re supporting a global FinTech business that builds and operates large-scale financial platforms used by businesses operating internationally. The company works in a highly regulated space and is continuing to invest heavily in its core engineering teams.
They’re now looking for an Engineering Manager to take ownership of a key domain within their platform and lead a team of engineers delivering business-critical systems.
The role
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for both technical direction and team performance. You’ll own a domain or sub-domain, shape the short- to mid-term technical roadmap, and work closely with senior engineers to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable.
You’ll balance delivery with sustainability, making sure the team can move quickly without compromising quality, reliability, or wellbeing.
What you’ll be doing
* Owning the technical direction for your domain, including a 3–6 month roadmap
* Working closely with senior engineers on architecture and technical standards
* Being accountable for system reliability, availability, security, and operational readiness
* Leading delivery by planning work, managing priorities, and keeping projects on track
* Owning incidents and ensuring clear processes, documentation, and on-call coverage
* Partnering closely with Product to stay aligned on priorities and outcomes
* Leading, coaching, and developing engineers at different stages of their careers
* Creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
What they’re looking for
* Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
* Strong understanding of modern software development practices and agile delivery
* Experience leading teams in complex or regulated environments
* Comfortable balancing delivery, technical quality, and people leadership
* Clear communicator who works well across engineering, product, and leadership
* Someone who enjoys building stable, high-performing teams
