Offer Description
The Department of Aerospace Engineering (DAE) of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain is asking for expressions of interest for a position of Assistant Professor. We are looking for someone with a background in Aerospace Engineering or a related field, with up to 6 years of postdoctoral research. Their experience should be aligned with or complementing the strengths of the Department.
* Around 100 hours per academic course, including regular courses, BSc and MSc Theses advising.
* To help consolidate a competitive research program in one or more areas of Aerospace Engineering.
* To help build competitive proposals for research funding.
* To publish in high-impact journals.
* To advise PhD Theses.
General Duties
* All expected management, representation, and dissemination activities of faculty members.
Requirements
Education Level : PhD or equivalent
Desired Background and Skills
* Field of experience : Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
* Independent research potential, critical thinking, ability to cope with innovation and interdisciplinarity.
* Postdoctoral experience of up to 6 years.
General Contractual Conditions
* Gross salary in the range 30-40 k€ / year, depending on postdoctoral experience.
* Options for additional salary supplements offered by UC3M and based on productivity and excellence.
* Standard benefits, including Health care under the Spanish National System.
* The duration of the initial contract is 3 years, with the possibility of extending it up to 6 years in total (subject to positive reviews).
Selection Process
Interested candidates must send their expressions of interest, indicating in the e-mail subject “Expression of Interest - Aero 2025 / 26”. Applications will consist of a single pdf file including :
* A motivation letter describing experience, interests, and future goals (max. 1 page).
* Highlights of the 5 main research contributions (papers, projects, patents, ...).
* 2 professional recommendation letters (authors can send them directly if they prefer).
The process will remain open until April 30th 2025. Later submissions might not be considered.
The Hiring Committee of the Department of Aerospace Engineering will assess the expressions of interest and will video-interview the most suitable candidates. Depending on the results of the process, the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid will open one or more job offers in the Aerospace Engineering Dept., and the selected candidates will be invited to apply to those job offers.
