We have exciting new opportunities in expanding Oracle’s cloud business in our CTO Office – positioning and then ensuring successful implementation of transformational solutions. This architecture role comprises a combination of both technical and soft skills. Your contribution will be pivotal in helping customers transforming their IT estate with Oracle cloud. Engaging with customers to understand their business drivers as well as current technical challenges, designing large-scale strategic architectures.

What you’ll do
Reporting directly to regional Field CTO, you will lead the architectural definition for transformational platform based cloud adoption including:
* Dedicated Region, Alloy
* Combined C3/ExaCC farms
* Platform adoption of Public Cloud
* Hyperscaler to OCI Platforms
* Critical opportunities directly identified by regional SVPs
Responsibilities
You will be supported by a highly collaborative team that includes solutioning specialists. You will have the opportunity design the solution architecture, map it to Oracle cloud services, define a target deployment architecture that delivers a best practice solution for the customer, define a migration path and ensure that the architecture adapts to the customer journey.
Your activities will include:
* Approach architecture executive sessions
* Explaining and generating reference architecture and customer examples
* Fitting solutions to customer situations
* Owning the platform architecture
* Leading discovery
* Defining the solution roadmap
* Creating the Foundation Architecture (Solution Definition)
* Accountability for all workload architectures delivered by Specialists to run on the platform architecture you define
* Pattern creation & evangelism – Codify landing‑zone templates, automation scripts and industry‑specific value propositions; publish to Oracle portals both internal and external.

What You’ll Bring

Architectural skills and experience are clearly important aspects to this role. These include;
* a good general understanding of cloud architecture and hybrid on premise/cloud designs
* strong architectural understanding of all technical aspects of a cloud solution including networking, security, resilience and connectivity
* excellent communication and presentation skills with high degree of comfort speaking across all levels of management (e.g. IT management, Architects, administrators and executives)
* strong collaboration skills and the ability to build virtual teams to deliver broad-based architecture deliverables
* Experience in engaging and influencing senior leaders
* Strong industry background – for example Banking or Telco experience.
In addition, a number of technical skills will also be needed.
* 12+ years experience of working as an architect on large-scale application and database modernisations or migrations
* working knowledge of OCI plus any other hyperscaler
* experience of gathering information about and analysing large application and database estates
* ability to build a complex migration strategy involving many hundreds of target systems
* track record of reference architecture publication
* knowledge and experience of a number of migration approaches and tools such as Rackware and Matilda
* Exposure to cloud onboarding
* knowledge and experience of building and managing large VMWare and Openshift estates
