Embedded Test Expert
Join Giesecke+Devrient’s Global Mobile Security team to design, develop, and execute test strategies that ensure the quality and reliability of embedded software systems. You will collaborate with software developers, system architects, and product owners to validate functionality, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to the R&D; test strategy definition and operation.
- Design and implement comprehensive test cases for embedded software systems.
- Develop automated test frameworks and scripts for unit, integration, and system-level testing.
- Perform manual and automated testing on embedded platforms (e.g., microcontrollers, SoCs).
- Analyze test results, identify root causes of failures, and work with development teams to resolve issues.
- Support the Test Manager to ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback from a testability perspective.
- Maintain test documentation and generate test reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 62304).
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in embedded software testing (5+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and microcontroller architectures.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++).
- Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with project tracking and documentation tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience with artifact dependency management tools (e.g., Nexus).
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Jenkins).
- Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and simulation environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in safety-critical domains (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical).
- Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART).
- Knowledge of smartcards and telecommunication standards (e.g., ETSI, GSMA, Global Platform, JavaCard).
- Certification in Process Quality Assessment Models (e.g., ISO9001, SPICE, Automotive SPICE, CMMI).
- ISTQB certification or equivalent is a plus.
