Aistech Space is focused on generating affordable, recurrent, high resolution thermal imagery of the planet to provide a new perspective of Earth's changing resources. The company is based in Barcelona and aims to revolutionize remote sensing for environmental monitoring and resource management.
What you will do:
Aistech Space is looking for a RF Hardware Engineer to be part of the Space Infrastructure Team in charge of designing, analysing, integrating and testing high-sensitivity receiver chains (Antenna to ADC) used for different applications.
In this role, you are expected to deal with the different Aistech departments, suppliers, clients, R&D proposals, bureaucratic paperwork, launch plans and a long list of activities to push the company forward.
The main responsibility for this job position is contributing technically a heterogeneous team of engineers/scientists/sw developers to deliver the next payloads into orbit and ensure the performance of the RF payloads.
You will also be responsible to follow internal standards and good practices in terms of project management, documentation and time management following an agile approach in your daily work and ensuring the team is also doing it.
The daily tasks to be achieved in this position are:
* Understand Aistech Space's mission objectives.
* Support RF Subsystem Design by Assisting in the design of receiver front-ends, including LNAs, filters, mixers, and frequency conversion stages.
* Maintain and update link budgets to ensure the payload can detect weak signals (signals of opportunity) across various orbital altitudes and slant ranges.
* Perform circuit-level simulations (ADS/AWR) and basic EM simulations (HFSS/CST) to de-risk RF board designs.
* Perform hands-on bring-up and testing of RF prototypes using Spectrum Analyzers, VNAs, and Signal Generators.
* Work with Software Defined Radios (SDRs) to validate the\ "antenna-to-bits\" signal chain and characterize hardware impairments (IQ imbalance, DC offset).
* Be able of writing your own code when needed, follow internal standards, make it testable and document it properly.
* Be part of the negotiation team, working closely with our partners and suppliers, understanding their proposal and adjusting it to our objectives.

* Ability to analyze and select RF components (LNAs, filters, mixers, oscillators) based on application needs, performing technical trade-off studies and bench-top validation against mission requirements.
* Ability to use RF simulation tools (ADS, Microwave Office, or HFSS) and PCB design tools.
* Comfortable using a VNA to measure S-parameters and a Spectrum Analyzer to find spurs/noise floors
* Ability to calculate FSPL, Noise Figure, and SNR requirements for a basic communications or radar link.
* Proficiency in Python for data analysis and test automation.
* Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
* Fluent in English.
Nice to have:
* Experience in any related projects with RF Payloads (VHF, UHF, S-Band, X-Band, Ku Band).
