This is a technical authority role where you'll underwrite complex fleet risks (PHV/taxi, delivery, and leasing fleets) across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK, Spain, and Italy. brYou'll combine hands-on underwriting expertise with strategic portfolio management, broker and MGA relationship-building, pricing framework influence, and profitable growth. brCore Responsibilities brUnderwrite new business and renewals across commercial motor fleet segments (PHV/taxi, delivery, leasing, multi-jurisdiction programmes), assessing risk quality using exposure data, loss history, fleet management practices, and driver profiles while negotiating terms with specialist brokers and MGAs to achieve balanced outcomes on pricing, coverage, and conditions brMonitor portfolio performance across COR and loss ratio metrics by segment, geography, broker, vehicle type, and fleet size—actively manage underperforming accounts through rate action, tighter terms, or non-renewal decisions while producing underwriting MI and collaborating with actuarial teams on pricing adequacy and experience reviews brContribute to the development and refinement of fleet pricing models, rating tools, underwriting guidelines, and appetite statements, incorporating market intelligence on competitor dynamics, emerging risks (EV fleets, ADAS technology, autonomous vehicles, gig economy operators), and claims trends, including repair cost inflation brBuild and maintain relationships with specialist fleet brokers, Lloyd's brokers, and MGA partners across Europe, leading broker meetings, scheme reviews, and renewal discussions while navigating cross-border regulatory requirements, mandatory covers, and local market practices across multiple European jurisdictions Qualifications brSignificant motor fleet underwriting experience (ideally within insurer, Lloyd's syndicate, or specialist MGA) with proven track record managing fleet portfolios across multiple European markets. brStrong technical capabilities in risk assessment, pricing, coverage structuring, and portfolio steering, with comfort interpreting loss runs, claims statistics, and actuarial analyses, plus proficiency in Excel, Power BI or similar BI platforms, and familiarity with underwriting/pricing systems brFluent English with additional European language (Spanish and Italian) highly valuable; ACII qualification (or equivalent) or progress toward it preferred, with good understanding of European motor insurance regulation and cross-border frameworks
