8Layers is a fast-growing cybersecurity startup building the next generation of Identity Security for the enterprise. Our platform helps security teams manage identity posture, detect identity‑based threats, and automate compliance — integrating with cloud sources across the entire identity ecosystem, including human identities, Non‑Human Identities (NHIs), and AI agents, without agents or complex deployments. We leverage AI at the core of our detection and analysis engine to surface threats and risks that traditional tools miss.
Founded by a team of serial entrepreneurs with deep roots in enterprise security (Devo/Logtrust), we are at an early and exciting stage: strong product, early customers, and a global go‑to‑market motion underway.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to be the first dedicated marketing hire at 8Layers. This is a high‑ownership, high‑impact role: you will work directly with the founders to shape how the world understands and discovers 8Layers — from brand positioning and event presence to sales enablement and demand generation.
This role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of experience in cybersecurity marketing who is eager to operate with significant autonomy, grow fast in a startup environment, and eventually build a team around them. You will be a strategic thought partner to the founders on messaging and positioning, and the hands‑on executor across all marketing surfaces. The role is fully remote with occasional travel to industry events in Europe and the US.
Key Responsibilities
Positioning - Messaging
Partner with the founders to define and continuously refine 8Layers' positioning, value proposition, and competitive narrative.
Develop clear, compelling messaging for each buyer persona (CISO, IAM leads, Security Engineers) across the full funnel.
Maintain competitive intelligence: track the competitive landscape, identify where 8Layers wins and where it doesn't, and translate this into battle cards and internal enablement materials.
Content - Thought Leadership
Own the content pipeline: blog posts, whitepapers, solution briefs, case studies, and technical one‑pagers.
Drive thought leadership for the founders on LinkedIn and industry media, including ghostwriting and editorial coordination.
Own the public website: content strategy, messaging updates, SEO alignment, and coordination with design/dev resources.
Events - Community
Define 8Layers' event strategy: which conferences to attend or sponsor (RSA, Identity Week, local CISOs roundtables, etc.), with what message, and with what materials.
Coordinate event logistics and produce all supporting materials (booths, decks, swag, speaking proposals).
Build and nurture relationships with the cybersecurity community: prospects, partners, analysts, and press.
Demand Generation
Design and execute outbound and inbound campaigns targeting enterprise buyers across priority geographies (Spain, EU, and beyond).
Own lead generation metrics: MQLs, pipeline contribution, conversion rates, and cost per acquisition.
Manage marketing tools and budget (CRM, LinkedIn Ads, email automation, etc.).
Sales Enablement
Produce and maintain the full sales enablement kit: pitch decks, battle cards, brochures, solution briefs, demo scripts, and objection handling guides.
Work closely with the sales team (and founders in the early stage) to align messaging with what works in the field.
Conduct regular win/loss analysis and feed insights back into positioning.
Analyst - Media Relations
Build relationships with relevant analysts (Gartner, IDC, Forrester) and cybersecurity‑focused press and media.
Coordinate analyst briefings, press outreach, and award submissions to increase 8Layers' market visibility.
Required Skills & Experience
3–5 years of marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a cybersecurity company (vendor side strongly preferred).
Proven track record producing polished, high‑impact marketing content in both English and Spanish at a native or near‑native level — leveraging AI tools where appropriate to maintain quality and output at pace. Bilingual fluency is a hard requirement.
Hands‑on experience with product marketing fundamentals: persona development, messaging frameworks, competitive analysis, and go‑to‑market planning.
Familiarity with the identity security or IAM space is a strong plus (ISPM, ITDR, NHI security, AI agent security, PAM, IGA, or adjacent areas).
Experience owning or contributing to demand generation campaigns (paid, organic, email, events).
Comfortable working with standard marketing tools: HubSpot or equivalent CRM/MAP, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Google Analytics, CMS platforms.
Strong written communication skills — you will produce a high volume of content and your words will represent the company externally.
Soft Skills
Autonomous and proactive: identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and shipping without waiting to be told what to do.
Fast learner: getting up to speed quickly as the cybersecurity landscape and the product evolve, and staying current.
Collaborative: working closely with founders, sales, and eventually external agencies or freelancers, with clear and effective communication throughout.
Commercially minded: understanding that marketing exists to generate pipeline, with a focus on business outcomes over vanity metrics.
Resilient: thriving in ambiguity, adapting quickly, and finding ways to execute with limited resources in an early‑stage environment.
What We Offer
A foundational role in a high‑potential cybersecurity startup with a differentiated product and a clear market opportunity.
Direct collaboration with and mentorship from experienced founders with deep security industry backgrounds.
The opportunity to build the marketing function from scratch and eventually grow a team around you.
Competitive salary + equity package. xhfqzwm
Fully remote with flexible working arrangements.
Travel budget for industry events across Europe and the US.
