Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to lead our financial operations and drive excellence in accounting practices. Reporting directly to the Regional South Finance Director, this pivotal role will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, ensuring the company’s financial health aligns with our mission of sustainability in the fresh produce industry. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record in managing financial teams and systems.
Responsibilities
As Chief Accountant, you will manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring adherence to local and international accounting standards and tax compliance. You’ll lead a team of accountants, providing mentorship and guidance while optimizing processes to increase efficiency. Key projects include implementing advanced accounting software, integrating financial data with sustainability metrics, and supporting strategic initiatives aimed at reducing costs while promoting eco‑friendly packaging solutions.
You will collaborate closely with the Regional South Finance Director and other departments to provide financial insights that drive decision-making and support the company’s sustainability and impactful business practices.
Qualifications & Skills
We expect you to have:
* Extensive experience overseeing the complete accounting cycle, including monthly closings and supplier accounting processes, with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
* Proven ability to manage complex tasks such as amortization schedules, deferred taxes for Corporate Income Tax, and inter‑company and related‑party transactions.
* Strong leadership experience supervising and coordinating accounting and tax departments.
* Proficiency in ERP systems, especially SAP, along with organizational and analytical skills.
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (a Master’s degree is a plus).
* Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, with senior roles and a background in compliance, inter‑company operations, and financial reporting.
* Advanced proficiency in SAP and a deep understanding of tax reporting and financial analysis.
* Fluency in Spanish (native) and high proficiency in English.
* Strong responsibility, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously while adapting to changing priorities.
* Experience in an international working environment is highly preferred.
