You will serve as an Electronics Technician (AWS BASELINE 9 COMPUTERS) in the Engineering Department.
You will perform material conditions reviews, installation functional checkouts, and post-repair acceptance validation.
You will serve as an advisory role to the Chief Engineer in matters requiring technical authority.
You will exercise sound judgment in analyzing and developing approaches to meet objectives and effect change solutions as necessary and keep the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial problems.
You will independently plan and carry out assignments and resolve conflicts.
You will coordinate work with ship forces and superiors to resolve scheduling issues in order to meet fleet mission requirements.
You will provide technical support and oversight of test programs, modernizations, and repairs.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 U.S.C. § 3326.

This is an overseas position. You must satisfy overseas requirements under DoDI 1400.25 V1230.
This position may require travel within and outside the contiguous United States, including remote or isolated sites, and may require military or commercial aircraft travel for extended periods.
Eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee must sign a transportation agreement establishing a government time‑in‑service requirement of 12 months.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and a valid U.S. driver’s license.
May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country’s laws and regulations.
Must sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment.
Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to duty;
failure may result in withdrawal of an offer or removal.
Required to obtain and maintain qualifications under DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies (cyberspace workforce code 411, proficiency level Intermediate).
Must complete required training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and related purchases.
Must successfully complete a pre‑appointment physical examination.
Must obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Must ensure continuity of operations for mission essential tasks as determined by local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level, or equivalent in the private or public sector. The experience must include:
troubleshooting, repairing, and configuring AEGIS weapon systems and their interfaces;
solving problemsaffecting AEGIS weapon systems with software, electrical, electronic, and other engineering disciplines;
providing technical assistance for mission‑degrading casualty reports (CASREP) and technical services on AEGIS computing systems.
Employment Conditions & Benefits
The work regularly involves exposure to hazardous conditions such as:
high electrical voltages;
large rotating machinery;
electromagnetic radiation from high‑powered transmitters;
nuclear radiation aboard nuclear‑powered ships;
explosive, flammable, or incendiary materials;
turbines, condensers, and other machinery;
and
enclosed spaces below the ship’s waterline.
Additional conditions:
All duties are conducted aboard U.S. and foreign naval ships at berths, at anchor, or within harbor buoys.
May require temporary duty at sea on naval ships or in private shipyards or combat zones.
High‑line transfer from ship to ship may be required.
Position requires rotating shift work.
