The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Shareholder Relations and Institutional Matters Department (SR&IM) - Institutional Representation Division (IRD) - External Offices Unit (EO), at its EIB office in Madrid, Spain: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

Objective of the traineeship The goal of the traineeship is to support the EIB Madrid Office in its engagement with the President Office, Country Coordinator and Spanish public officials and enhanced the visibility of the EIB institution.
As 2025 will be run simultaneously with the implementation of Spain's Recovery and Transformation Plan, it is expected that this institutional engagement improves EIB's pipeline of operations in several areas of the organisation under InvestEU and Own Resources (inc. EIF, Advisory and Financial Instruments).
The Madrid Office needs you to support its representation role and the organisation of activities during the implementation of RRF (Recovery and Resilience Facility) and InvestEU. You will report to the Head of Office and also work together with the Office Administrator and Ops Assistant. As the office has representations from all business areas of the Bank, including EIF, it is also likely that you will be exposed to origination activities (signatures and protocol events) from an institutional angle (press releases, event preparation, data for briefings, etc.) in relation to Mandates and EIB own account.
Responsibilities You would be dedicated to support the organisation of activities and events and to help the EIB Group filter and identify potential operations. Tasks will be various ranging from:
Organisation of events and meetings (logistics and invitations);
Liaising with the venues;
Creating list of VIPs for invitations;
Contacting public organisations;
Liaising with colleagues from EU Commission and EU Parliament;
Collecting data;
Preparing databases, and perform guided analysis, preparing presentations, writing draft notes, screen out interlocutors and companies, and other tasks as needed.
In addition, the role will include support the Head of External Office with the development of Social Media to improve the communication of the Office and the EIB projects in Spain.
Academic qualifications and professional skills Final year of studies or University degree on Communication and/or Business Administration;
Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (including Power Point);
Good communication skills and proactive attitude;
Good drafting skills;
Working knowledge of Social Media platforms, specially Linked-In;
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of French and Spanish languages would be an advantage.
