The British College of Gavà is seeking to appoint a Teacher Assistant to join us in August 2025 on a permanent term and full time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new purpose built, expanding school with exceptional facilities.
Teaching Assistants (TAs) work under the guidance of teaching staff, undertaking support programmes that enable access to learning for all pupils aged 3 to 10/11 years old.
With a focus on encouraging pupils to actively participate in learning and classroom activities, Teaching Assistants are responsible for providing learning support to individuals and groups while supporting teaching staff. A Teaching Assistant role is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in children’s education, drawing on your commitment to developing pupil learning ability and knowledge accessibility. Working closely with class teachers you will be using high quality questioning and communication to develop children\'s knowledge and understanding during adult directed activities and child-led play based learning.
Main responsibilities:
- deliver tailored teaching activities to pupils on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups as directed by the class teacher
- make sure that the pupils you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity
- support the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues when required including safeguarding concerns following the correct procedures
- support the teacher in managing challenging pupil behaviour and promoting positive behaviour
- listen to pupils read and read to pupils as a class, group or one-to-one
- guide and monitor pupil progress as directed by the teacher. Help with the teaching of phonics.
- follow the child\'s interests and carry out freeflow activities based on these interests.
- record WOW moments for the children using the iPAD or post-it notes.
- provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils\' progress following group times
- make notes to aid evidence
