Job Description: HSE Officer / HSE Supervisor – Solar PV Project
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HSE Officer / HSE Supervisor to support a large-scale solar PV project in Spain. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are maintained across site activities, with a strong focus on construction, electrical works, energisation, contractor coordination and daily site safety management.
The role will suit someone with previous experience working on renewable energy, solar PV, electrical infrastructure, construction, industrial or energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and enforce site health, safety and environmental procedures in line with project requirements and local regulations.
Carry out daily site inspections, safety walks and audits across civil, mechanical and electrical work areas.
Support site teams during energisation, commissioning preparation and high-risk electrical activities.
Review and monitor RAMS, permits to work, toolbox talks and task-specific risk assessments.
Ensure contractors and subcontractors are working safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
Identify unsafe behaviours, hazards and non-compliance, ensuring corrective actions are raised and followed through.
Support incident, accident and near-miss reporting, investigation and close-out.
Deliver and support toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings.
Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and site documentation.
Liaise with site management, contractors and client representatives on HSE matters.
Promote a strong safety culture across the project and encourage proactive hazard reporting.
Ensure PPE, site access, welfare, emergency arrangements and environmental controls are properly maintained.
Support compliance with environmental requirements, including waste management, spill prevention and site housekeeping.
Required Experience
Previous HSE experience on solar PV, renewable energy, electrical, construction, infrastructure or industrial projects.
Strong understanding of site-based construction safety and contractor management.
Experience working around electrical installation, energisation or commissioning activities would be highly beneficial.
Confident carrying out inspections, audits, toolbox talks and site safety briefings.
Good knowledge of RAMS, permits to work, incident reporting and risk control measures.
Ability to work independently on site and communicate effectively with multinational teams.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety management.
Qualifications
Relevant HSE qualification required.
SSM / local HSE certification would be highly beneficial.
First Aid, Fire Safety, Working at Height or other site safety training would be advantageous.
Valid right to work in the EU preferred.
