Description

The Sr. Accommodation Consultant (SAC) serves as a liaison between business lines, the Disability Leave Services (DLS) team, outsourced vendor partners, and employees. The SAC provides individual case management for sensitive accommodation and disability life events. The individual manages all aspects of accommodations, leave of absence, and disability, including the development and implementation of regional processes and procedures to achieve optimal employee productivity and experience.

The SAC is experienced in answering questions related to accommodation, understanding the employee’s situation, responding to changing circumstances and needs, and paving the way for a connected and trusted case management experience. The individual in this role must possess self-management skills, a desire to share knowledge, and an ability to translate business needs and goals into human resource capabilities, producing favorable results for the company and employees. This individual will be a subject matter expert for accommodation-related matters. They must demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills, along with a customer service focus expected by Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

* Pursue return-to-work management and collaborate with leave case managers and disability vendors to ensure effective program administration.
* Provide consultation and coaching regarding accommodation matters to regional HR partners, managers, and employees.
* Offer information, referral, and support to employees with medical conditions or disabilities (occupational and non-occupational), supervisors, HR, and other partners, supporting Amazon’s employee retention efforts.
* Operate as an advocate for the accommodations process by providing ongoing consultative support to site stakeholders and accommodation specialists, focusing on problem-solving and creative solutions.
* Facilitate escalated communication between stakeholders and employees with disabilities.
* Coordinate with DLS Management and Legal on escalated issues as appropriate.
* Manage sensitive cases such as Behavioral Health conditions.
* Assist HR and supervisors in identifying essential and marginal functions of employee positions.
* Conduct job site analyses as needed.
* Help employees understand their restrictions, limitations, and legal rights and responsibilities.
* Maintain strict confidentiality in all communications.
* Stay informed on legislation and issues affecting access for employees with disabilities.
* Document and maintain up-to-date case records and notes in the database.
* Assess training needs and conduct group training sessions when appropriate.
* Provide professional opinions and actions taken on behalf of disabled employees in formal grievances, arbitration, depositions, and other forums as needed.
* Adhere to internal SLAs and quality standards.
* Maintain a caseload of up to 80 cases on average, with fluctuations during high-volume periods.
* Ability to travel up to 50% as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
* Relevant experience managing cases or supporting employees with disability, leave, HR, or employee relations functions.
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and data extraction from multiple sources.
* Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in negotiations.
* Experience in union and non-union manufacturing, distribution, and call center environments.
* Experience handling confidential information.
* Ability to build strong relationships and influence across levels, including with senior stakeholders.
* Experience with employee relations, change management, and government programs.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
* Strong problem diagnosis and solution implementation skills.
* Ability to work with diverse contacts, including physicians, employees, managers, attorneys, claim adjusters, investigators, and case managers.
* Critical thinking skills for independent decision-making in complex situations using SOPs and policies.
