Overview A vacancy for an Solution Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Sevilla. The successful applicant will join the Flight Test Ground Station Department.
Responsibilities Flight Test Ground Station is the department responsible for the Ground HW and Ground and Onboard SW means required to perform the flight test activity. It is also responsible for the IT Systems and general software in the Test Center Organization.
Design and develop complex hardware / software architectures for Flight Test Ground Station and Test Frameworks, with some industrialization of tools requested from the Test Center.
Knowledge in Telemetry Systems and standards (IRIG, STANAG, IEEE...)
Software development in a multiplatform environment.
Web-based development of new software architectures including cloud-based applications.
Architecture and design of the future evolution of the SW and HW assets.
Procurement selection and contact with principal vendors to set new requirements.
Coordinate activities with the equivalent department in Manching.
Integration of activities and coordination with the Flight Test Means Integrator and the Test Center Integrator.
Participation in activities related to development, product ownership and final customer.
Generate a development framework to evolve the configuration for hardware and software according to new equipment and requirements.
Design, develop, and validate embedded systems including hardware selection, software architecture, and real-time communication interfaces (Ethernet, UDP, TCP, RS232, etc.).
Implement simulation and integration environments (SIL / HIL) for system-level verification and validation.
Develop Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) with real-time data processing and visualization (e.g., C++, Qt, HTML5, JavaScript).
Define and deploy data-link communication architectures, including telemetry and ranging systems in test flight environments.
Integration of computer vision and AI-based systems for autonomous navigation and perception tasks.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project infrastructure deployment and live testing with virtual-constructive elements.
Contribute to prototyping and early-phase hardware / software validation.
Required Skills / Qualifications Educated to degree level in Engineering.
Previous experience in Flight Test Ground Station software and hardware architectures.
Previous experiences in testing activities.
Very good adaptation to software and hardware new architectures, especially those related to Cloud-Based Solutions.
English professional level required.
Entrepreneurial Spirit.
Experience in embedded software / hardware engineering.
Experience in programming languages such as C++, Python, and JavaScript.
Experience with simulation frameworks, model-based design (e.g., MATLAB / Simulink), and V&V processes.
Hands-on knowledge of embedded platforms (e.g., Raspberry Pi, ESP32, iMX6 / 8).
Solid understanding of real-time communication protocols and networking architectures.
Experience with Linux environments, version control systems (Git), and virtualization tools (Docker, VMware).
Familiarity with sensor integration (e.g., cameras), AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and web development stacks.
Experience with DevOps tools, cloud deployment (AWS, Kubernetes), or system monitoring (Grafana, OTLP).
